ON RADAR: Wild Belle

Wild Belle are a Chicago indie rock band, that is the creation of sister and brother Natalie and Elliot Bergman. The two siblings were raised in a house full of music due to musician parents. Older brother Elliot started an Afrobeat band called Nomo when he was attending the University of Michigan, and Natalie started performing in his band as backing vocals and playing tambourine around the age of sixteen. In 2011 the two decided to start their own band together called Wild Belle, and released their debut album Isles in March of 2013. The album’s name comes from their idea that every song on the album resembles its own island. The band has become noticed by touring with Toro y Moi and appearing in music festivals such as Lollapalooza, Coachella, and Forecastle Festival. Their popular single “Love Like This” has a sound that combines pop and reggae together with the vocals that would be usually be associated with folk acts such as Of Monsters and Men and The Lumineers. The song is a chill little love song that anyone who is a fan of reggae or ska music would appreciate. It is a song that leaves your mind in the setting of being on the beach on an island, enjoying the sun under a palm tree and drinking out of a coconut! Isles is available for streaming on Spotify and iTunes.
