ON RADAR: The Colourist

Do you enjoy pop rock indie bands that sound like a combination of Death Cab For Cutie and The Naked and The Famous?! Then check out the Orange County band known as The Colourist. The band consists of members Adam Castilla (vocal, guitar), Justin Wagner (keyboardist), Kollin Johannsen (bassist), and Maya Tuttle (drummer). Tuttle and Castilla met in a warehouse in which they discovered  how well their harmonic sound worked together, that is when the light hearted indie band was born. They began to gain attention in the music industry in 2009 when they won awards for the O.C. Music Awards, such as Best New Artist, Best Song, and Best Live Band. Since then they have been playing many live shows with bands like Grouplove, Electric Guest, and Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. Earlier this year the band had been working on their debut EP Lido, in Southern California and released it last month. The EP includes their popular single “Little Games,” a song that combines a rock n’ roll guitar riff with a beachy summer atmosphere and upbeat vocals from both Castilla and Tuttle. It is a catchy little tune, that everyone can enjoy and it reminds you of a trip to the beach with friends and having fun  frolicking in the sun!
