Laura Mvula attended the Birmingham Conservatoire in Birmingham, England, having graduated with a degree in composition. She spent years singing in various groups and choirs before she got inspired to write her own songs. However, it was during her time as a receptionist that she got inspired to send out demos of her work. British composer, Steve Brown took notice and soon after RCA Records signed her and released her debut album, “Sing To The Moon” in 2013. During our interview, she speaks about those early days, her musical interests, those of her husband and more.

Up and coming band, Finish Ticket has gained quite a following in their home base of the San Francisco Bay Area over the last four years. Winning a local band competition to open for a radio festival, the band quickly gained momentum playing to sold out clubs, opening for Billy Idol and getting signed to Atlantic Records. The band had released their debut album, “Tears You Apart” independently in 2013, however, the band reworked a few songs and will be re-releasing the album on May 19, 2014. During our interview, the guys from the band spoke with B-Sides host, Pete Mar about their origins shared with other notable names from their high school and more.
