MICHAEL LIVES ON: Xscape

imageIt was surprising to hear that Michael Jackson had released a new single yet alone a new album! Yes the King of Pop has released his new album known as Xscape, even though he passed away on June 25th, 2009. It seems that although Michael is no longer here with us in body, Epic Records’ L.A. Reid wanted to remind the world that he is still with us in spirit, and that his music will live on. Reid took the time to shift through the countless unreleased tracks Michael had stored away for years, and decided to produce it as the late pop singer’s last work of art. The album features popular musicians Justin Timberlake and Jay-Z, a bold move for Epic since Jackson’s past albums featuring current celebrity pop musicians such as in Michael, did not produce high revenue. But does this new release live up to the Michael Jackson we know, such as Thriller? The release of the new single “Love Never Felt So Good” dropped May 4th, 2014 on iTunes and received over 60,000 downloads!  The song also received recognition from 31 million different radio formats. The track incorporates Michael’s versatile pop vocals combined with funk and disco instrumental. It is a nice mellow track but it lacks the artist’s unique performance as heard in past tracks through generations such as “Bad,” “Beat It,” and “Man in the Mirror.” All of which projected the intense passion Michael had for his music. Overall the new album has already received great success, but it will never compare to the 1970s and 1980s Michael Jackson that we loved!
