VIDEO INTERVIEW: Run The Jewels Talk Critical Acclaim, Lebron James

runthejewelsRun The Jewels has garnered much critical acclaim after releasing their self-titled debut album in 2013. The duo comprised of rappers Killer Mike and El-P, each experienced recognition for their individual works early in their career. Killer Mike was featured with Outkast on their album “Stankonia” released in 2000 as well as “The Whole World” that was on their greatest hits LP, “Big Boi and Dre Present…Outkast”. El-P got involved in hip-hop at an early age, forming the group Company Flow and eventually starting his own record label, Definitive Jux. As his individual work was received with critical acclaim, El-P also contributed towards the works of Aesop Rock, Del tha Funkee Homosapien, Atmosphere and other independent hip-hop artists of note. The pair collaborated to produce Killer Mike’s album, “R.A.P. Music” in 2012 and eventually spawned the idea for the two to perform together as Run The Jewels. Their second album, “Run The Jewels 2” was released in late October 2014 to widespread critical acclaim, with many publications calling it one of the best albums of the year.

B-Sides On-Air recently caught up with Run The Jewels at their San Francisco performance at Mezzanine.
