ALBUM REVIEW: RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS – GETAWAY

Red Hot Chili Peppers have been under the bridge, or radar, since their 2011 album release I’m With You but they’re back from their hiatus with the release their new album Getaway. The album is an escape from the mundane and does not fail to deliver high-quality music.

Red Hot Chili Peppers

Getaway has a very similar sound to Red Hot Chili Peppers’ 1999 album Californication where you’ll catch on to very similar and familiar rhythmic and melodic themes. Although you can listen to their music and it will sound familiar, it’s not as easy to pinpoint a particular timeframe for the music. Red Hot Chili Peppers are rocking it in 2016 as it did in the 90s as far as energy levels and massive vibration of power in each song.

After listening to the album a few times, you will see that you have already caught on to the lyrics and the songs seem familiar, even though it may have been the first few times you’ve heard them. It’s a throwback album from the tunes of your youth and a fast forward into the vibe of your current summer. Getaway would be perfect for you to listen to while you grab your swimmies and soak up some rays. We’d recommend you listen to “We Turn Red” while you do cannon bombs into the pool. Seriously, the song tells you to.

Last we checked you might not be able to purchase this vinyl record online, so you’re better off going to a record store to grab this. The album is a double-LP and super high definition and dynamic sound. In the meantime, check out the music video for “Dark Necessities” that was released on June 17th, 2016. The song is an excellent introduction to the album, as it contains one of their most musically challenging songs to create.
