VIDEO: INTERVIEW – POWERS Talk ‘Alpha’, Relationship with New York Artists

The duo of POWERS has been steadily on and off the road touring during the past 12 months and is set to release their highly anticipated debut album, Alpha, in June via Republic Records. Cutting their teeth playing in various bands while in New York City before making the move to Los Angeles, Mike Del Rio and Crista Ru are no strangers to the music business, as individually, they’ve carved out a reputation for writing and producing many an ear worm having worked with the likes of Kylie Minogue and Selena Gomez. Most recently, Del Rio had a hand in producing the current breakthrough single “Lost on You” by LP. Now putting the final touches on their debut which Del Rio describes as an album that embodies, “those characters you meet and the characters you become, the left turns and right turns all while learning how to celebrate the full color spectrum of your individual story.” The duo have already released a few tracks from the album including the lead single, “Dance,” which Ru describes as “our way of coping with the social and political environment of the world right now. It is our state of the union”. Alpha will also feature collaborations, one of which will include Sam Harris of X Ambassadors, whom the band had toured with in the past.

POWERS recently spoke with B-Sides On-Air during their San Francisco tour stop to talk about what can be expected on the debut album, their relationships with The Knocks, Phoebe Ryan, Sofi Tukker and others who they’ve known when first starting out. Check out the interview:
