REVIEW: Lightning in a Bottle 2017 – Mother Nature Brings Welcome Guest

With the myriad of activities that go down every year during Memorial Day Weekend, Lightning in a Bottle stands out the most as it provides a unique experience combining music, community, self-awareness and numerous offerings to come away with new knowledge. This year’s event was once again held in at Lake San Antonio in Bradley, CA and the musical lineup provided a greater diversity from artist ranging from Bassnectar, RÜFÜS DU SOL, Bonobo and Kaytranada to Thao with the Get Down Stay Down, Vallis Alps, Bob Moses and Troyboi. As much as the music brought together attendees from all over the globe, it’s the sense of creativity and love that created new bonds. As we attended the event for our second year, we came away with new acquaintances and friends that we shared a common bond with that is rooted in the sense of community. A nightly sacred fire lighting was one such event that we witnessed bringing people together and allowing them to free their minds, reconnect with themselves and simply enjoy the moment and time they were spending at LiB.

This year’s LiB was greatly enhanced by something not even the organizers, The Do Lab, could ever have arranged. The winter season’s relentless rainfall replenished Lake San Antonio to capacity and allowed festival attendees a chance to take a dip, dance and cool off throughout the weekend. Combined with the serenity of the lake nearby, the yoga and meditation offerings were brought to a whole new level. Needless to say, Lightning in a Bottle 2017 was a truly memorable experience.
