VIDEO: INTERVIEW- Echosmith Talk New Album, Lineup Changes, Chester Bennington Tribute

Echosmith are back in action, having just completed a short run of touring over the last month and a half in support of their recently released EP, Inside A Dream EP, via Warner Bros. Records. The EP is the lead-up to their yet-untitled sophomore full-length album, due to be released this summer. Inside A Dream showcases a new sound for the band, which is now a trio, led by vocalist/musician Sydney Sierota, her brothers Noah (bass) and Graham (drums), after the departure of brother and guitarist Jamie, who left the band to spend more time with his wife and son. “We had to find ourselves as a trio instead of a quartet,” stated Noah. “At that point, we never had another musician on stage with us,” explains Sydney. “That literally forced us on a journey of having to discover this sound. We still had electric guitars, but they weren’t the center of the music anymore.” In order to bring that vision to life, the group utilized vintage synths, keys, and drum machines. The band didn’t sit idly by during the time between full-lengths, as they not only released Inside A Dream, but also accompanying videos, their first holiday album, An Echosmith Christmas and also participated in the Tribute to Chester Bennington at the Hollywood Bowl.

B-Sides spoke with Echosmith at the first show of their tour in San Francisco, to talk about the transition from a four-piece to a trio, how it’s affected their sound and what to expect from the new album. Sydney also spoke about the experience during the emotional tribute show to Chester Bennington and more. Check out the interview:
