VIDEO: INTERVIEW – Starcrawler Talk Formation, Energetic Live Shows

Starcrawler has enjoyed many accomplishments in 2018, a year that started with the release of their self-titled debut album and saw thee band experience much acclaim as they hit the road in support of the material. Tour dates that included numerous European festivals, SXSW, CalJam and opening for The Distillers, helped expose the band to new audiences and spread their brand of exciting music with their engaging stage presence. The band has only been around for just a few years, having formed in 2015 when lead vocalist Arrow de Wilde first met Austin Smith (drums) with the idea to form a band, eventually bringing in guitarist Henri Cash and Tim Franco (bass). The Los Angeles-based band recorded their debut with Ryan Adams on analog tape at his Pax-Am studio, as the producer and musician himself promoted the material on social media, “This starcrawler record is gonna peel the paint off your brain!” and “Starcrawler are so fucking insanely good. Soon they will rule this galaxy.” Soon after signing to Rough Trade Records the four-piece have gone on to elicit the attention of notable artists including, Elton John, who played the track “Ants” on his Beats 1 radio show, Dave Grohl, who invited them to play his curated festival, CalJam, and also Gerard Way, who has described them as a “mix of 70’s theatricality and Stooges electricity”.

B-Sides met up with Starcrawler to talk about their impressions on the positive attention they’ve received, the process of forming the band, new music and more. Check out the interview:
