BottleRock 2019 Acts You Don’t Want To Miss

BottleRock Napa Valley is back for another festive season!  Initially started back in 2013 as a five-day event, Bottlerock has consistently delivered as a solid three-day event, with this year’s edition taking place from May 24th-26th.  The festival boasts a lineup that is headlined by Imagine Dragons, Mumford & Sons and Neil Young, along with One Republic, Elle King, Sir Sly, and Tash Sultana. BottleRock also features a wide array of food, beer and of course, wine, which the Napa Valley is known for. Here’s a list of bands that should intrigue your musical curiosity: 

Sylvan Esso

North Carolina electronic pop duo and real-life couple Sylvan Esso (Amelia Meath and Nick Sanborn) were nominated for a Grammy back in 2017 for their sophomore album What Now. Both belonging to other bands before they finally met each other at a club where Sanborn was performing as Made of Oak. Instantly clicking, they formed what is now Sylvan Esso and had their debut album chart Top 40. They’ve appeared at numerous festivals including Coachella, Firefly Fest, ACL, and now BottleRock!

Jenny Lewis

Former front singer of Rilo Kiley and member of The Postal Service, Jenny Lewis has four albums of her own. Surrounded by music her whole life, Lewis been featured on many musical projects and collaborated with various artists from The Watson Twins, Elvis Costello, Brandon Flowers, Wavves, Paul Shaffer, also She & Him. She has performed at numerous festivals and an act that must be included on your schedule.

Neon Trees

Most people are familiar with Neon Trees thanks to their hits “Animal,” “Everybody Talks,” “1983,” and “Sleeping With A Friend” that took over the radio waves across the country. Their songs sky-rocketed them to top radio hit status. After a short hiatus, front man Tyler Glenn mentally rediscovered himself releasing his third album Pop Psychology. The band’s latest single “Feel Good” hints a possible new album in the works. We’re excited to hear more from Neon Trees!

Flora Cash

The Swedish- American duo (Shpresa Lleshaj and Cole Randall) have been charting with their single “You’re Somebody Else” and garnered them musical guest spots on TV. Flora Cash met after commenting back and forth to each other on SoundCloud, which led to forming the band. They recently traveled to Texas for SXSW, are touring with lovelytheband, and we get to see them again for this big music event!

Logic

Sir Robert Bryson Hall III aka rapper Logic became fascinated with rap/hip-hop music after watching Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill: Volume 1 scored by Wu Tang Clan member RZA. From there releasing his own mixtapes to even his debut Under Pressure based on personal experiences, which became certified gold! He got more recognition touring with Pitbull, Method Man, Redman, and Ludacris. Now the twenty-nine year old has six albums including his latest Confessions of a Dangerous Mind with track “Homicide” ft Eminem and single “Keanu Reeves” named after the actor.

Gary Clark Jr.

Blues rock Texas singer Gary Clark Jr. won his first Grammy in 2014 for Best Traditional R&B Performance of his song “Please Come Home“. Playing guitar as a young teen at small gigs until he met promoter Clifford Antone was really when he got his big break. From there, he’s worked with top artists such as Alicia Keys, Sheryl Crow, Foo Fighters, Childish Gambino, and Tech N9NE. His cover of the Beatles “Come Together” peaked at #15 and was featured in the film Justice League in 2017. It’s no wonder he was featured on Rolling Stone for their rock issue as “Best Young Gun” in 2011!

Pharrell Williams

The “Happy” singer and former Voice coach will be singing the charting hits he’s been featured in “Get Lucky,” “Blurred Lines,” “Beautiful” and so much more! Williams is definitely an artist radio and internet streams enjoy playing.

The Regrettes

The Regrettes made a strong impression with the release of their debut album Feel Your Feelings Fool! They garnered positive reviews and a fanbase. In between tours, the band recorded a handful of new tracks after releasing their latest EP, Attention Seeker. The quartet performed Coachella last year before embarking on a few UK tour dates and returning to the U.S. for major festivals such as The Governor’s Ball and Bonnaroo.

Chevy Metal

Foo Fighters’ drummer Taylor Hawkins and guitarist Chris Shiflett formed this 70s dirt rock cover band Chevy Metal as a three-piece with bassist Wiley Hodgden. Chevy Metal has played a number of covers from Aerosmith, Black Sabbath, Van Halen, Queen, and ZZ Top. We’ll see what other 70s classics they’ll be covering at BottleRock!

White Panda

Solo DJ White Panda is known for his mashups/remixes of other hit tracks from Disclosure, Mike Posner, Rihanna, and Sam Smith. His version of five mashups song into one of Michael Jackson’s “Blood Dance Floor X Dangerous” charted on Billboard‘s Dance Club Songs. Once White Panda comes on stage, it’s going to be a dance party!

Mumford & Sons

Grammy-awarded British band that blends folk-pop seamlessly and strongly influenced by Bob Dylan released their fourth album Delta last year. Delta reached #1 in the U.S and #2 in the U.K. This time their album incorporates elements of rap, electronic, and even jazz. Winners of the 2013 Best British Group are an engaging and entertaining live act that is a must-see.

 

Mumford & Sons - Beloved

Santana

One of the most legendary gifted guitarist, Carlos Santana, is co-headlining with Mumford and Sons on Sunday. This is the man that headlined Woodstock at its prime and is a Bay Area legend. Santana continues to make music with his band including other fellow artists like Rob Thomas, Chad Kroeger, Steven Tyler, and Michelle Branch.

SHAED has garnered a growing fan base and attention after the release of their debut EP, Just Wanna See. The trio from Washington, DC, comprised of twin brothers Max and Spencer Ernst with lead singer Chelsea Lee met during high school and embarked on individual music projects before forming the band. Lee has been singing at a young age and signed a record deal with Atlantic Records at 18 years old. The combination of their talents led to industry recognition, tours with Marian Hill, Bishop Briggs and Sir Sly, along with appearances at numerous festivals that included SXSW 2017.

Bishop Briggs

2016 has been a highlight year for Sarah Grace McLaughlin aka Bishop Briggs, breaking through with the success of her first two lead singles, “River” and “Wild Horses”. Catching the singing bug at a young age while attending karaoke bars as a youth in Japan. Bishop Briggs was born to Scottish parents, raised in various Asian metropolises, and attended college in Hollywood while honing her craft as a singer/songwriter. She’s toured with Bleachers and Joywave before the release of her debut album Church of Scars. Energetic, engaging and overall entertaining, Briggs puts on a great set that will her gain new fans.

Too $hort

Oakland rapper Todd Anthony Shaw aka Too $hort is known to be the pioneer of West Coast hip-hop. He began recording in the mid-80s into the 90s. His hit “The Ghetto” was featured in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and he was honored in VH1’s “Hip Hop Honors”. This festival just got lit with this Bay Area local!
