VIDEO: INTERVIEW – Mini Mansions Talk New Album, Intimate Song Material

Mini Mansions just released their new album, Guy Walks Into A Bar… on July 26, 2019 to much critical acclaim. Upon the release, Michael Shuman of Mini Mansions stated, “We’ve waited years for this day, and we can’t be more excited to release our third LP, Guy Walks Into a Bar… It wasn’t an easy record to make. It tested our interpersonal relationships within the band, as well as my own personal struggles in my past romantic relationship. But those hurdles have helped us to produce, as I see it, our most honest and self-reflective record to date. We hope you enjoy it and can feel the amount of blood, sweat, and tears that went into making it.” The album contains familiar voices including a duet with The Kills’ front woman Alison Mosshart on “Hey Lover” and backing vocals from Z Berg (former singer in The Like) on “Forgot Your Name” and “Living In The Future”. The band founded by lead vocalist/guitarist Michael Shuman (Queens of the Stone Age), bassist/drummer Zach Dawes (The Last Shadow Puppets) and keyboardist Tyler Parkford, recently crossed the ten year mark as a group and show no signs of slowing down, having performed at numerous festivals over the years and recently concluded the U.S. run of dates featuring Shuman’s bandmate in Queens of the Stone Age, Jon Theodore on drums.

B-Sides met up with Michael Shuman and Tyler Parkford of Mini Mansions before the album release to talk about the album’s intimate nature of the songs, the writing process and more. Check out the interview:
