VIDEO: INTERVIEW – Saint Motel Talk Trilogy of EPs, Structured Process to Writing

Elektra recording group Saint Motel debuted their brand new track “A Good Song Never Dies” recently with the launch of PlayStation’s MLB The Show 20. The track is the first new music from the second of the three-EP set ‘The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack’, with part I having been released late last year and is highlighted by the hit single, “Van Horn.” In speaking of the three-part set, frontman A/J Jackson referred to the material as structured as a three-act movie structure where, “Part one is hope and optimism, getting to know the characters in the world. Part two is the conflict and the danger, and part three is the resolution and the victory and we get back to the world we knew.” Formed while attending film school in Southern California, Los Angeles-based Saint Motel scored breakout success with their 2015 Elektra Records debut, “My Type” EP, whose title track was a top 10 hit at Alternative radio and RIAA-certified Gold. The following year, Saint Motel returned with their highly anticipated full-length ‘saintmotelevision,’ featuring the radio hit, “Move.” ‘The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack Part II’ is due out soon with Part III to be released late this year.

B-Sides caught up with Saint Motel to talk about the new process they took where they had structured times to write and record the material, more details on the three-part EP series and more. Check out the interview:
