VIDEO: INTERVIEW – Sara Kays Talks Viral Success of “Remember That Night”, Early Days Busking, Covering Katy Perry

When she was 12 years old, Sara Kays received a gift that would change her life: a guitar. By the time she was in high school, she was busking at local restaurants, playing covers of everything from Elvis Presley to Oasis. Little did she know that in a few short years, she would have millions of listeners from around the world. TikTok gave Kays an exceptional platform to share her music on, amassing millions of fans who adore hearing her intimate original songs featuring her guitar and ukulele skills.

Kays’ alternative pop songs are refreshingly honest and confessional, with the relatable storytelling of an incredibly skilled songwriter. Last year, she released her debut EP ‘Camera Shy’ where she tackles various painful moments in her life, such as the divorce of her parents, her mental health, and body image issues. Her ability to transform these vulnerable experiences into songs that touch listeners is truly apparent on this debut.

Sara Kays spoke with B-Sides host Pete Mar about the viral success of her song “Remember That Night”, her early days busking playing covers ranging from Oasis to Katy Perry and more.
