REVIEW: Swedish House Mafia Return To San Francisco With Overwhelming Appreciation, Sept. 16, 2022

With a huge curtain drawn to maintain a level of suspense, the opening moments of “Can U Feel It” by Swedish House Mafia had the crowd at Chase Center in San Francisco dancing and fist-pumping that would last throughout the night. The curtain would eventually be released to reveal the legendary group from Sweden consisting of Axwell, Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso, who delivered a show filled with many tracks from their recently released debut album, ‘Paradise Again’. “It Gets Better” from the LP followed up the opener with a mix into the classic “Greyhound”. Using a stage design consisting of three large rings that were configured in various angles and emitted lasers throughout the night, Swedish House Mafia were lined up in their familiar side-by-side setup.

Strobes and lasers were plentiful and accompanied by a lot of pyro and a healthy amount of small fireworks as the trio ripped through “19:30”, “We Come, We Rave, We Love” and “Lifetime”. The energy from the audience was infectious and non-stop as “Redlight” boomed through the venue. The light show kicked up a notch as “Time/Reload” and “Turn On The Lights Again…” played. With the finale of “Don’t You Worry Child” with “For You” and “Save The World” the Swedes took a moment to express their appreciation for the audience, in particular San Francisco, stating “Swedish House Mafia loves San Francisco.” Based on the reaction, the feeling was more than mutual.
