Tennessee’s four-day annual Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival kicks off on next weekend, June 13-16. This year’s lineup features Post Malone, Fred Again.., Red Hot Chili Peppers, Cage the Elephant, Megan Thee Stallion, Maggie Rogers, and more. Bonnaroo has several activities planned such as Halsey’s About-Face Beauty Shop, a variety of bars and restaurants, water park rides, and their traditional ferris wheel. The festival offers much more than only music allowing for fun weekends every year. With such a diverse lineup, it’s hard to figure out who is worthing watching. Matt Maltese – Thursday, June 13th
Singer-songwriter Matt Maltese’s “As the World Caves In” went viral on TikTok for its emotional vocals and beautiful lyrics. His latest album Driving Just To Drive contains a similar vulnerability and effective writing as his hit song. Fans of Oscar Lang, Faye Webster, and Men I Trust would definitely want to check out Matt’s set.
Sawyer Hill – Thursday, June 13th
Rock singer Sawyer Hill’s electric presence at live shows has captivated audiences for his decade long career. His breakout “Look at the Time,” a passionate alt-rock song, showcases his deep vocals and heavy guitar riffs.
Dominic Fike – Friday, June 14th
Dominic Fike’s album Sunburn (2023) captures the fun of summer’s unbearable heat with dancey tracks “How Much Is Weed?,” “Dancing In The Courthouse,” and “Think Fast” (feat. Weezer). Fike transforms the pop R&B genre with his nostalgic writing and unique electric production.
Lizzy McAlpine – Friday, June 14th
Following her hit song “ceilings,” Lizzy McAlpine opened herself up more on Older (2024), her third studio album. Known for her confessional songwriting style, Lizzy combines her heartache with fresh stripped back production. Festival goers looking for an intimate and calming set would love to see what Lizzy has in store.
The Japanese House – Friday, June 14th
The Japanese House (Amber Mary Bain) offers a delicate, nuanced perspective to the indie dream pop genre. Her soft melodies, acoustic guitars, and breathy instrumentals shine on her second album In the End It Always Does.
Jon Batiste – Saturday, June 15th
Singer-songwriter multi-instrumentalist Jon Batiste’s personal and soulful music has captivated audiences from his first album Time in New Orleans at 17. Over the years, Batiste has gained critical acclaim for his film scores and jazz albums. His reflective work is great for those looking for a peaceful moment at the festival.
Ethel Cain – Saturday, June 15th
Southern singer-songwriter Ethel Cain rose to widespread acclaim following the release of her debut album Preacher’s Daughter (2022). Cain’s music is often praised for its cohesive southern gothic aesthetic and her raw storytelling through raspy vocals.
The Maine – Saturday, June 15th
Consisting of John O’Callaghan, Jared Monaco, Garrett Nickelsen, Pat Kirsch, and Kennedy Brock, this American pop-punk band’s discography is refreshing and intentional. Their latest album, The Maine (2023), details the band’s journey over their 16-year long career.
Ryan Beatty – Saturday, June 15th
After a five year hiatus, Singer-songwriter Ryan Beatty re-entered the music scene by collaborating with Brockhampton, Kevin Abstract, and Tyler, the Creator while writing his own music. Ryan’s discography mixes smooth vocals and vulnerable lyricism with dreamy melodies and harmonies.
Goth Babe – Sunday, June 16th
Goth Babe’s (Griff Washburn) music is the perfect soundtrack for a summer adventure with upbeat songs like “Sometimes” and “Casita.” His energetic and captivating live stage presence is meant for the festival scene.
Chappell Roan – Saturday, June 15th
Rising pop singer-songwriter Chappell Roan gained internet fame after her debut album The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess and opening for Olivia Rodrigo’s GUTS tour. Her songs “Casual,” “HOT TO GO!,” which comes with a special dance, and “Good Luck, Babe!” are messy, charming songs meant to be heard live.
The Beaches – Saturday, June 15th
Formed by Jordan Miller, Kylie Miller, Leandra Earl, and Eliza Enman-McDaniel, The Beaches went viral for their heavy rock song “Blame Brett.” Fans of The Aces and The Last Dinner Party would enjoy The Beaches’ latest album Blame My Ex and lively set.
