Lunar Vacation released their sophomore album ‘Everything Matters, Everything’s Fire’ in August of this year and showcases the band’s evolution towards adventurous sonics and lyrical depth. “Our last album was super produced and manicured,” guitarist and vocalist Maggie Geeslin shared. “This one’s organic. We embraced mistakes; it made the work even better.” With highlights like “Set The Stage”, “Tom” and “Sick”, many of the songs deal with emotions of being lovelorn, angry and hopeless, amongst other universal feelings. Lead singer and songwriter Gep Repasky shared, “whenever I’m feeling maybe not the best, I usually want to write songs. That’s when I feel mostly inspired because I feel all these things and I don’t know why and I just need to get it all out of my system and then maybe after the meltdown, comb through what I like.” As raw as some of those feelings may be, Repasky didn’t want to censor anything, “I feel like I should just be as raw as I can because if it helps one person or someone think differently or try to have a different perspective on something or be like, oh my gosh I feel that way too, I’m not losing it.” The band made a solid impression with their debut album ‘Inside Every Fig is a Dead Wasp’ in 2021 and has been together since they were in high school. They now live in the same house and were able to leverage the living situation to their advantage to making the new material. “I used to be so protective of the songs when I gave them over to the band,” Repasky says. “There’s so much trust involved, but this house helped us grow as best friends, as musicians, as a band.” Comprised of Gep Repasky (guitar & vocals), Maggie Geeslin (guitar & vocals), Connor Dowd (drums), Matteo DeLurgio (keys & percussion) and Ben Wulkan (bass), Lunar Vacation has plans for more touring in the upcoming year.
Lunar Vacation members Gep and Maggie spoke with B-Sides host Pete Mar about their latest LP ‘Everything Matters, Everything’s Fire’ and finding their voices and growing confidence, they speak about the show ‘Vanderpump Rules’ and how it relates to one of their songs and more.
