Joyce Manor finished up the Texas run of their tour promoting their newest album, ‘I Used To Go To This Bar’, this weekend. The night was full of a variety of different sounds of punk that brought so many fans together for an action-packed night.
The night started with a Baltimore-based band, Combat, taking the stage. Their fun stage presence, catchy riffs, and sing-along-worthy songs got the crowd awake and ready for the night. Punk duo, Teen Mortgage, took the stage next and brought out all the mosh pits and crowd surfers. The band gave the perfect performance, full of rebellion, angst, and energy.
The crowd erupted when Militarie Gun took the stage. The LA-based band opened with the latest single, ‘God Owes Me Money’ off their new album, ‘God Save The Gun.’ Their stage presence was infectious and electrifying. The crowd was loud and all over the place in the best possible way. They ended their set with their high-octane anthem, ‘Do It Faster,’ perfectly priming the room for the main event.
Joyce Manor took the stage and immediately brought out the bangers. Songs from their latest album, like “I Know Where Mark Chen Lives,” brought the crowd singing their hearts out with the biggest smiles. The night featured a selection of OG Joyce Manor songs, such as ‘Constant Headache’, ‘Eighteen’, and ‘House Warning Party’, along with a handful of tracks from their latest album. There was something for every single fan in that crowd.
The night showcased the evolution of punk/pop-punk in recent years. No matter how far it has traveled from its original sound, it will always connect fans, regardless of age. Bands like Joyce Manor and Militarie Gun show that punk/pop punk is only going to get bigger and better in the years to come.
