International breakout group Katseye stunned during their second night in San Francisco at the sold-out Bill Graham Civic Auditorium. Ensuring that none of the technical issues they encountered during their first night would happen again, the six-member group captivated from start to finish. The show was extra special for group member Yoonchae Jeung, who was celebrating her 18th birthday.
With no tour opener, fans were treated to the group’s music videos and various clips that many sang along to and danced. Many were seated and ready well before start time in anticipation of the show. As soon as the lights dimmed, the screams and cheers overwhelmed the venue while everyone stood up and Katseye emerged dressed in all black outfits performing “Debut”. The energy was high as both Katseye and the fans (known as EYEKONS) fed off each other. Each member traded off on lead vocals and the choreographed dances during follow-up songs “Game Boy” and “I’m Pretty”, which elicited loud cheers throughout the night. Performing the unreleased “Internet Girl”, Katseye danced in sync without a flaw as fans sang along to nearly every word, an observation that Katseye member Sophia Laforteza noted after the song.
The set included a fun moment of dancing to “Milkshake” by Kelis, which was part of their Gap ad. Powering through fan favorites “Gabriela”, “M.I.A” and their huge hit “Gnarly”, Katseye maintained the same energy level they came out with. The banter throughout the show was fun and engaging, something that they took a moment for during the encore h to thank the fans and also wish Yoonchae a happy birthday. They sang happy birthday twice to her, the second time after a cake was rolled out. Ending the show with “My Way”, Katseye showed why their emergence onto the music scene was met with such enthusiasm. The choreography, the vocals and charismatic presence kept fans mesmerized, engaged and entertained while it was evident that Katseye are in for larger stages and an ever-growing fanbase that’s well-deserved.
