Hailing from Chihuahua, Mexico, Midnight Generation has been growing in popularity over the last four years and has become one of the most exciting artists in the Mexican music scene. Merging funk, pop and electronic, the five-piece formed in 2015 over their common appreciation of disco and dance artists from the 70s/80s such as the Bee Gees, Prince, and Chic. Consisting of Fernando Mares (Vocals, Keyboards, and Guitar), Luis Carlos “Bica” Valderrama(Keyboards and Backing Vocals), Carlos Amaya (Bass and Keyboards), and Samuel Marquez (Drums and Backing Vocals) and their new addition, Diego Bustillos on percussion, Midnight Generation has sold out key venues throughout Mexico and continue to grow internationally. Their latest album ‘ Tender Love’ was released earlier this year and showcases their infectious dance-driven sounds highlighted by songs like “Don’t Wait Up”, “She Loves Earth, Wind and Fire” amongst others.
Midnight Generation spoke with B-Sides host Pete Mar at Outside Lands 2025 about playing the festival, reception of international audiences and more.
