Wavedash is the musical project of young Austin, TX natives Gavin Bendt (17), Luke Shippey (18), and Michael Stone (18). Before they were making heavy-hitting bass tracks, the group met in middle school and became fascinated by artists like Skrillex, Zomboy, and Aphex Twin. Not only were they inspired by these big names, but have also gained support from the likes of Skrillex, Porter Robinson, Madeon, and RL Grime as they’ve released more dazzling music. Their debut single “Bang” was even unveiled via Skrillex’s OWSLA label, to which the iconic producer commented, “[Bang] is one of the most insanely produced tracks I’ve heard in years and years, me coming from a dubstep background.” Throughout 2020, the group worked on their debut album ‘World Famous Tour’, giving fans a sneak peek at several tracks on the record during a passionate set at Porter Robinson’s Secret Sky virtual festival. The group has also collaborated with experimental Russian artist Anton Reva to create the visuals for their latest project, who has worked with phenomenal artists such as Bad Bunny, The 1975, and Yves Tumor.
Wavedash just released their highly anticipated debut album ‘World Famous Tour’ on April 2nd which blends multiple genres and styles to create what is truly a triumph of an electronic record. They sat down with BSides host Pete Mar to talk more about the making of the album and more!
