PHOTO REVIEW: RÜFÜS DU SOL – Red Rocks Morrison, CO 10/15/2022

In support of their latest album, ‘Surrender’, RÜFÜS DU SOL has been on the road during the second leg of their highly anticipated North American ‘Surrender’ Tour. The Grammy-winning band saw numerous sold-out shows throughout the summer as fans came out in droves as lockdown regulations eased up. The original date at Red Rocks in Morrison, Colorado sold out so quickly that the band added a second show. The show on October 15th marked the band’s seventh performance at the iconic venue, something they acknowledged with gratitude throughout their set during the brisk Saturday night that saw a few drops of rain fall early. The set started off with minimal lighting and band members silhouettes as they performed “Eyes” off of their album ‘Solace’. The excitement from the crowd was immediate and carried on as the band performed “You Were Right” and “Devotion”, the former one of their signature songs and elicited huge cheers and singalongs while strobes flashed. Lead singer Tyrone Lindqvist came down from his elevated platform, singing to each side of the stage during “On My Knees”. After the song, Lindqvist took time to thank the crowd for coming out and expressed his thanks stating, “it feels beautiful to come back here full circle after traveling the world and play in front of these two magial rocks tonight for you.” It didn’t take long for the band to elevate the mood as confetti as launched and flew in the middle of their performance of “Surrender”, inspiring images of snow falling, which was befitting of the brisk temperatures. The light show was absolutely phenomenal as lasers pulsed across the rocks, audience and night sky while “Innerbloom” blared throughout the venue. The lasers and vibes continued as the band ended with “Treat You Better” and “No Place”, the latter saw Lindqvist singing to the crowd as he walked across the stage to each side before the band joined him at the end of the set to thank the audience for what turned out to be a magical night.

Prior to their set, Copenhagen-based experimental pop trio WhoMadeWho and Paraleven warmed up the crowd as they streamed in and did so with exciting sets of their own.  WhoMadeWho notably got the crowd dancing and clapping along with an impressive set that fit right in with the sonics of the headliners.
