PHOTO REVIEW: The Lumineers Light Up Fenway Park for Night 2 of the Automatic World Tour

The Lumineers hit Boston’s iconic Fenway Park on Saturday night, July 18th for a second unforgettable night on their Automatic World Tour. Kicking off the North American leg on July 3rd, 2025, the tour supports the band’s latest album, Automatic, and spans arenas, stadiums, and legendary ballparks across the country through the fall season.

Originally slated for just one night at Fenway, overwhelming demand added a second show—giving even more fans the chance to sing along to favorites spanning the band’s five studio albums. A summer concert at Fenway is a Boston tradition, and with glowing wristbands lighting up the crowd, the ballpark pulsed with energy and emotion all night long.

Opening acts included indie rockers Hippo Campus and the always-mesmerizing St. Vincent. As the sun dipped below the horizon on a perfect July evening, The Lumineers took the stage, kicking things off with “Same Old Song” from Automatic, followed by “Flowers in Your Hair” from their debut album.

By the fourth song, the fan wristbands lit up in sync with the music, transforming Fenway into a dreamy landscape of sound and light. It was the kind of performance that felt just like the album, only better, because you were standing right there on the baseball field.

About a quarter into the set, the band walked out onto the catwalk and strummed the first chords of “Ho Hey,” one of their most beloved anthems. The entire park erupted in song and movement, and the energy never dipped. Confetti rained down during “Sleep on the Floor,” adding another layer of magic to the already electric atmosphere.

The set flowed seamlessly through The Lumineers’ discography, celebrating every era, from the raw nostalgia of Cleopatra and Stubborn Love, to the fresh sounds of Brightside and Automatic. Spending a summer night at Fenway, experiencing two full evenings of heartfelt storytelling through music, felt like the perfect way to celebrate a band that’s only grown deeper with time.
