Amidst much anticipation, songwriter, producer and instrumentalist Chezile made his debut at Austin City Limits 2025. The New Mexico native had an enthusiastic crowd eager to see him perform for the first time and sang along and swayed to many of his songs in the warm Austin heat.
Chezile made quite the impact with his song “Beanie”, which garnered millions of streams and praise after its release in 2023 and carried that momentum over to his debut EP ’47’ that was released a year later. The emerging artist has built a fanbase who both relate to and empathize with his journey from humble beginnings and a period of homelessness while pursuing his dream of a music career. His newest EP, ‘Alē’ was released earlier this year and covers his journey and reaction to his burgeoning recognition. “I overly manifested this since I was young. If I’m able to do it, I know for a fact that people can do the same thing I’m doing and whatever they want to do,” he shared, “I somehow want to convey that message through art and be a tool to help kids who were as fucked as I was, people who don’t have influences around them to just tell them that they’re f**ng special.”
Chezile spoke with B-Sides host Pete Mar about performing at Austin City Limits 2025, his determination to become a professional musician, his latest project, ‘Alē’ and more.
