VIDEO: INTERVIEW – Eliza McLamb Reflects on Time As Podcaster, Shares Influences on Latest LP ‘Good Story’

Indie rock artist Eliza McLamb released her sophomore album, ‘Good Story’, late last year to much critical acclaim. Filled with expanded and richer sonics, McLamb tackles the human tendency to package personal trauma into clean, neat narratives.

“For ‘Good Story,’ I really wanted to strip back the layers and tell truths that felt both deeply personal and universally resonant.”

McLamb’s musical vision for ‘Good Story’ emerged from journal entries exploring the complexities of memory and perception, and how many have a tendency to create a narrative for one’s life. The material reflects her approach beyond earlier, more outwardly observational songwriting. Tracks like “Like the Boys” and “Suffering” combine strong lyricism and catchy sonics that make the overall album a satisfying listen. McLamb’s live shows in support of the album have been fun and engaging, as many fans of her music and her now-defunct podcast ‘Binchtopia’ turned out strong.

Eliza McLamb spoke with B-Sides host Pete Mar about how current societal tendencies to narrativize one’s life influenced her latest LP ‘Good Story’. She speaks about her time podcasting and lessons learned and more.
