Toronto-born indie-pop singer Lillyisthatyou continues to boldly redefine her sonic landscape, stepping away from frantic internet fame toward an intimate, deeply introspective creative space. With her compelling new project ‘FROM THE GARDEN I GREW’, she delivers an emotionally resonant collection that signals a mature and transformative chapter in her career.
“The way others perceive me does not change the way I see myself.”
Electrifying alt-pop artist Lillyisthatyou dropped her newest EP, ‘From The Garden I Grew,’ in August to much anticipation and led by standouts “Buzzball” and “Nostalgia Baby.” The new material spans topics of navigating relationships, femininity, addiction and introspection.
‘From The Garden I Grew’ is less about being glossy and more about realistic everyday life as a messy, unromanticized dive into ego-death, recovery, and radical self-acceptance. The Toronto-born, Los Angeles-based artist filtered through hundreds of songs into a cohesive sonic trip that’s anchored by the fan-cultivated garden metaphor, where every gift and emotional scar is repurposed into raw material. Standouts like “Empty Universe” is an existential mid-tempo anthem exploring how everything and nothing matters simultaneously, while “Money Can’t Buy Happiness” highlights the clash between external success and internal self-worth.
Exploding onto the music scene in late 2021 with “FMRN” which went viral on TikTok, which has racked up million of streams. Raised in Toronto before relocating to Los Angeles to pursue her artistic vision full-time, and steadily carved out an independent niche through self-directed visuals and relatable songwriting.
