VIDEO: INTERVIEW – Momma Says Their Songs Are Meant To Be Universally Relatable, Talk 10 Year Friendship, New Album

Brooklyn-based indie rock band Momma consists of Etta Friedman, Allegra Weingarten, Aron Kobayashi Ritch (multi-instrumentalist), and Preson Fulks (drummer). Known for their 2022 album Household Name, the band returned with their latest release Welcome to My Blue Sky (2025). This album showcases the band’s experimental nature across a variety of tracks such as “I Want You (Fever)”, “Rodeo”, and “How to Breathe”. “At the end of the day, we’re not just writing music for ourselves. Music is a universal experience,” Weingarten shares about the making of Welcome to My Blue Sky. “and if we were dropping and giving times and dates, then to me, that further separates the listener from the experience.”

Momma spoke with B-Sides host Pete Mar about 10 years of friendship and of the band and the bonds that keep their friendship and relationship thriving. They talk about their latest album ‘Welcome to My Blue Sky’, the songwriting process and intention to make the lyrics relatable from a universal perspective and more.
