Pronounced Miss Mister, MS MR are an American duo from New York that consists of Lizzy Plapinger (vocals) and Max Hershenow (producer). Their debut full length album Secondhand Rapture was released last month, and their latest hit single on the album is their song “Hurricane.” The song gives off a dark and mysterious vibe, especially with Plainger’s echoing and haunting vocals.
The song is about someone who feels that no one would want to be with them or love them and fall short to their negative self esteem; lyrics like “Didn’t know what this would be, but I knew I didn’t see, what you thought you saw in me…Welcome to the inner workings of my mind, so dark and foul I can’t disguise, can’t disguise, nights like this I become afraid of the darkness in my heart, hurricane” portrays this image to the listener. The duo’s music video for “Hurricane” was released in April of 2012 and was also included on their EP called Candy Bar Creep Show, which was released September of 2012. MS MR sounds like Florence and the Machine and are great for anyone who loves their music with a dark edge and seductive voice. Secondhand Rapture is available for streaming on iTunes and Spotify.
