Australian musicians that are heard overseas here in the US are usually few and far between. We know and love Atlas Genius but another band hailing from Australia is making their mark all around the world now as well; Boy & Bear. This folksy band which can only be described as they put it “a combination of drivey indie folk and choral harmonies”(1) is fast becoming a new obsession for many. Formed in 2009 by Dave Hosking (vocals/guitar), this band was initially a solo project before Dave expanded the band with Killian Gavin (vocals/guitar), Jake Tarasenko (bass/vocals), Tim Hart (Tim Heart), and finally Jon Hart (mandolin/banjo/keyboards). The rest is history.
They released their debut album Moonfire on August 5th, 2011 which featured the hit “Feeding Line”. The album was a success, winning them five awards at the ARIA Music Awards 2011, including Album of the Year, Breakthrough Artist of the Year, and Best Group. Since then the guys have released their follow up album, Harlequin Dream, earning a spot at number 1 on the ARIA albums chart and have been quite busy touring the world. Great looks, catchy songs, and accents that girls will swoon over, there is no doubt this band can go far.
