Kevin Gates is currently on the road in support of his latest album Islah, recently making a stop in Denver, Colorado along with a couple great up and coming acts including Young Greatness and BWA ( Bread Winners Association) affiliate OG Boobie Black.  The sold out show had a line three blocks down the road and when doors finally opened at 8 PM it took nearly the entire hour before the show to check everybody’s ID’s and check for contraband.

After the final guests funneled in from outside and everybody crammed onto the dance floor, the concert was ready to start and the crowd’s excitement boiled over. Young Greatness was the opening act and hit the stage around 9 PM to get the crowd loose and ready for a fun night ahead. His set was limited due to the short 15-minute set time, but it made up for it in a high energy performance and on point delivery. When hit songs like “Moolah” and “Dope Boy” came on the crowd responded well and definitely gave some love and appreciation for the opening act.

OG Boobie Black was next out on the stage and after a short intermission he roared onto the stage to start the next set. His energy was high and he managed to drop a few heavy hitters that really got the crowd going.  He was obviously feeling the crowd’s energy as well, because about half way through his set he said,  “You guys might not even get to see Kevin Gates tonight cause I’m fucking with you and might just stay up here all night.”  After dropping a couple different bass heavy bangers, OG dropped a few of his more popular tracks like “They F*** With Boobie Black” and “True Story.”  The set ended after about 45-minute or so, and as soon as Boobie left the stage the crowd started with the chants of GATES.

When Gates hit the stage, the built up energy from the night was let loose and the crowd went wild on the dance floor. Gates set consisted of a variety of different songs, some from his older projects like Luca Brasi 2, but most of the set was from his latest album Islah. The crowd never let up the entire night and stayed live for the entire hour and a half set.  Highlights of the night were definitely when Gates dropped his hugely successful singles “2 Phones” and “La Familia” which are both featured on Isalh. Another great moment from the night was when Gates paused the beat and spoke on the story behind the scar on his eyes. The story led in to the drop of “4:30 AM” and relentless aggressive flow on the song poured out into the crowd and the energy was contagious.  The Islah tour continues in Kansas City, Missouri on February 17th,2016 so stay tuned for The Islah tour in a city near you.
