Mystifying Canadian duo Angine de Poitrine made their live debut in San Francisco this past Wednesday night August 19th to an enthusiastic sold-out crowd. With fans outside The Independent clamoring for tickets and asking anyone and everyone to buy an extra, the anticipation of their live show had reached its peak.
The venue which officially holds 500 people tops, was overflowing with fans of all ages and every single area of the floor was occupied. The scene was expected after the duo lit the internet ablaze with their viral performance that has literally the music world scratching their heads on who they are, and more importantly the music that’s pushing guitar rock music more towards the forefront. Right before the band’s set, a pair of black and white dice blow-ups were being bouncing around by everyone hitting them in the air. Once Angine de Poitrine came out on stage, the cheers were overwhelmingly loud and refreshingly, barely any phones in the air. As the band tore through “Angor”, heads were bobbing, fans upstairs were fist-pumping and dancing. It would continue as the masked duo performed “Yor Zarad” and the very familiar “Tamebsz”. Khn de Poitrine dressed in the now traditional white polka dot outfit was on guitar and bass, while Klek de Poitrine dressed in their black polka dot outfit sporadically addressed the crowd via movements and only towards the end of the show would they communicate in their own language, which got the crowd excited and intrigued.
