Ruel wrapped up his ‘Kicking My Feet’ North American Tour in Los Angeles, CA April 8th to a sold out show at the Hollywood Palladium. Performing songs from his catalog as well as a few sprinkles of new songs from his forthcoming album Kicking & Screaming (Kicking My Feet Pt. 2), the Australian artist had the crowd engaged and singing along throughout the night.
The stage design was set with an elevated door in the middle of the stage of which Ruel would make his entrance from and would be used as a prop for instrument changes and for surprise guests. Ruel emerged onto the stage performing the the newer ones “Only Ever” and “Not What’s Going On”. Eliciting cheers and phones in the air, the fans were singing loudly with many fans shrieking as he visited their side of the stage. Fan favorites like “Dazed and Confused” and “Younger” were prominently featured and had the crowd in a frenzy early on. As the crowd swayed to the ballads and jumped around dancing to others, Ruel was engaging and interactive, acknowledging the fans. Openers Chelsea Jordan and Mercer Henderson joined him on stage for a few songs, as did the tour’s early opener, Arthur Hill, the latter joining to perform a stripped down version of “Cats on the Ceiling” that was a highlight of the night. Ending the set with the staple “Painkiller”, the singing was just as loud as it was at the beginning of the set, and rightfully so, as Ruel brought his A-game for the final stop of tour and leaving the fans wanting more.
