RIO KOSTA, comprised of Mike Del Rio & Kosta Galanopoulos came together by chance and released their critically acclaimed album ‘Unicorn’ last year. They’ve since played numerous festivals, made a big splash with sold-out shows in the US and Europe.
“Bands should feel like a limitless art project.”
The neo-soul and eclectic psychedelic textures of their music reflects each of their respective heritages, with Kosta’s Greek background combined with the influences from his time in the Bahamas, and Del Rio being inspired by his Spanish and Italian roots, his time growing up in New York, and especially revisiting his identity following the passing of his Puerto Rican grandmother. Del Rio shared, “The whole ethos of this project has been about friendship, endless creativity and eternal childhood. We hope that if anything, you can feel the level of bliss and love we had while making this album as a first step into the Rio Kosta universe. We’re so grateful for anyone joining this journey and the creative conversation with us as a band and can’t wait to bring this music, the message and the high vibration to all parts of everywhere soon. We appreciate each and every person hopping on the mothership. Phase one is upon us.”
Rio Kosta speak with B-Sides host Pete Mar about performing at Austin City Limits 2026, growing success, their formation and more.
