VIDEO: INTERVIEW – Annie DiRusso Interview at Austin City Limits 2026

Rising indie-rock artist Annie DiRusso joined Hayley Williams in Nashville earlier this year to perform her song “Wearing Pants Again” and was subsequently tapped to open for Williams during her Latin America tour later this year. DiRusso shared. “opening for hero of all time Hayley Williams in Latin America this November… can’t believe it.”

“Writing has never come super easily for me… I was just trying to follow ideas as they came and not limit myself.”

DiRusso has been on a roll since the release of her critically acclaimed debut album ‘Super Pedestrian’ with extensive tours and numerous special performances. The record serves as a visceral exploration of youth, self-doubt, and personal growth, anchored by standout singles like “Back in Town” and “Emerson.” Reflecting on the emotional core and creative drive behind her music, DiRusso shared, “a lot of the album is about this push and pull of acceptance and resistance. It’s me learning to surrender and about not being in the passenger seat of your own life (even though I never officially got my driver’s license).”

Growing up in New York before cutting her teeth in the vibrant underground music scenes of Nashville and beyond, DiRusso spent years honing her unique sound and introspective storytelling, having released ‘God, I Hate This Place’ in 2023.

Annie DiRusso spoke with B-Sides host Pete Mar about performing at Austin City Limits 2026, excitement to see Lorde, her upcoming tour with Hayley Williams, new music and more.
