Berlin-based Australian quintet Parcels have officially ushered in their next creative era with Ok ok now, a striking release that seamlessly redefines their signature fusion of retro-funk precision and contemporary indie-pop sensibilities. The new project captures a group operating at the absolute peak of their collaborative powers, balancing infectious danceability with remarkably nuanced songwriting.
“I wanted it to feel like this like WhatsApp chat that you weren’t allowed to be in… Here’s my whole being, and it’s scary, but I think worthwhile.”
Stepping away from the groove-heavy, disco-infused soundscapes of Parcels, Noah Hill is front and center with his raw debut solo album, ‘Ok ok now.’ Exploring the quiet beauty of heartbreak and personal evolution, the project is more of a non-linear concept album, telling the patchwork story of a relationship with both the good and bad on display.
For the album, Hill returned to the folk and acoustic pop that first shaped him, drawing inspiration from the intimate songwriting of Andy Shauf and Unknown Mortal Orchestra. “Having grown up playing folk and acoustic pop music, I started to miss the immediacy and quiet honesty of it, and gradually found my way back to these songs,” Hill stated. “When I did, it felt instinctive and right. Over time, it became clear this was the most honest place I could begin as a solo artist. Most of the songs were written over many years, on back porches at home, or in quiet hotel rooms. Some are nearly ten years old, others more recent. Together they trace a period of my life shaped by a first great love and its ending.”
Formed alongside his childhood friends in Byron Bay before relocating to Berlin to immerse themselves in Europe’s legendary electronic scene, Hill spent more than a decade anchoring the bass and vocals for Parcels.
Noah Hill of Parcels spoke with B-sides host Pete Mar about performing at Austin City Limits 2026, his debut solo album and more.
