Electronic music innovator Subtronics has been making music for nearly 15 years, with his latest project ‘FIBONACCI’ having dropped last year and has reached another milestone in his career. Subtronics has been a festival staple for years and the 2026 edition of Coachella sees him grace the stage for his debut at the iconic festival.
“With ‘FIBONACCI’, I wanted to explore the inherent beauty of natural patterns and translate that into a truly evolving, almost living, sonic experience.”
Subtronics (Jesse Kardon) released his third studio album, ‘FIBONACCI’ as a two-part project—following FRACTALS (2022) and TESSERACT (2024). The project draws inspiration from the Fibonacci sequence as a metaphor for life’s interconnected patterns, emotions, and growth.“My album ‘FIBONACCI’ is representative of everything in life, an all encompassing code to the world,” Subtronics shares. “The album is my personal journal from the past two years, a range of emotions and experiences, a range of worlds and realities in song-form.”Part 1: Oblivion delivers high-energy club tracks like “Lock In” with Wooli, while Part 2: Infinity takes a more emotional journey featuring vocal collaborations with Linney (“Friends”), Grabbitz (“Infinity”), Lyrah (“Contour”), and Royal And The Serpent with ILLENIUM (“Got Away”). Performing at Coachella was not something Subtronics took lightly, even though he’s been performing on the festival circuit for years throughout his career. “It’s crazy to be playing Coachella cuz I really do usually kind of stick to the dance music circuit or even more specifically like the bass music, the dubstep circuit. So it is almost like graduating to like I’m a little fish in a big pond kind of situation… It’s crazy surreal. It’s totally insane… I’m seasoned with festivals, but with stuff of this scale, my inner child is freaking out totally,” Subtronics shared.
Subtronics spoke with B-Sides host Pete Mar about the challenges of translating complex mathematical concepts into sound, the role of improvisation in the studio, and more.
