PHOTO REVIEW: Bishop Briggs – San Francisco, CA 11/02/2019

Saturday night saw Bishop Briggs perform in front of a packed enthusiastic crowd at The Warfield in San Francisco. Although she’s been mostly playing various festivals during the last year, this is her first major tour since early 2018. Briggs is currently touring in support of the release of her sophomore studio album, ‘Champion’.

The stage setup featured a set of video screens across the stage with the drummer and guitarist/keyboardist on a platform above the screens. After a countdown display on the video screens hit 00:00:00, and intro music started to play as Briggs emerged on stage, skipping and dancing as her band started the title track from her new album. Running back and forth across the stage, Briggs sang with passion and fed off the energy of the crowd. She immediately followed it up with one of her early signature songs, “Wild Horses” that sent the crowd into a frenzy. Briggs expressed her gratitude to the audience many times throughout the show and smiled throughout the night. Not all was smiles, as she tore through songs like “Jekyll and Hide” and “My Shine” with a fierceness, two tracks(the former co-written with k.flay) inspired by her past relationships. She did slow it down for an acoustic version of “Dream” and also took a break in the set to perform a medley of covers, “Stressed Out” by twenty one pilots, “The Black Parade” by My Chemical Romance, “I Write Sins Not Tragedies” by Panic! At The Disco as the clips of the bands’ music videos clips played behind her. Ending with her breakout song, “River”, Bishop Briggs ended the show with the same energy that she brought at the start.
