VIDEO: INTERVIEW – Denai Moore Talks Overwhleming “Whiplash” Emotions in New Album, ‘Modern Dread’

The latest album by Denai Moore, ‘Modern Dread’ has been lauded as a relevant album for the current social climate and anxieties experienced from the pandemic. The album was produced by Alex Robertshaw of Everything Everything and tackles what Moore describes as the “whiplash” of emotions felt by many during the past couple of years. Informed by the urgency of one of the album’s earlier songs, “To The Brink”, the songs on the album express a range of emotions from the anxiety and worry for the future, to the hopefulness and self-love to give one the confidence to forge ahead. Moore stated, “You get a hyper-happy confident moment and then there’s this darker world and then it’s like overwhelming and that’s what I wanted the album to feel like.” ‘Modern Dread’ is the follow-up to the critically acclaimed album “We Used to Bloom” (2017).

Moore spoke with B-Sides host about the writing of the new album, how she’s dealing with the current pandemic, her friendship with Hayley Williams and more. Check out the interview:
