VIDEO:INTERVIEW – Anson Seabra Talks Musical Journey, Latest Song “Magazines”

Anson Seabra grew up playing a variety of instruments. From first to eighth grade he trained as a classical pianist, before picking up saxophone and participating in nearly every musical outlet at his high school. During his adolescence, he consumed music as voraciously as he played it, with some of his favorite artists at the time including Regina Spektor, Mika, Ben Folds, The All-American Rejects, Fall Out Boy,
and Boys Like Girls. But despite his love for music, Seabra enrolled at Truman State University, majoring in Computer Science.

When he began working full time as a software engineer, he realized he wasn’t happy with the direction his life was going in. Then, his big break came with his debut single “Welcome to Wonderland”. Though the song was originally released in 2018, the song really took off in 2020 by becoming a trending sound on TikTok. Now, Seabra has millions upon millions of streams across multiple platforms, with listeners around the world becoming endeared to his tender, intimate piano ballads. He’s just released his latest song and video for “Magazines,” which tackles how media presents an idealized world and its effect on self-perception.

We spoke with Seabra to talk about how his career and sound have evolved and what he has in store coming up.
