VIDEO: INTERVIEW – Kevian Kraemer Shares Appreciation For Zara Larsson, Talks Going Back To Rock Roots On New EP

Singer-songwriter Kevian Kraemer is turning over a more intentional, high-energy leaf with his new EP, ‘only if it matters’. Instead of the more recent heavy pop layers, Kraemer reconnects with his experimental rock roots that are built for live performances.

“I feel like I go in a lot of weird places and I go into weird experimental guitar tones like very like Muse and the Strokes and that kind of stuff.

Inspired by an active an invigorating 2025 of touring throughout the year, Kevian Kraemer came away inspired by the live performances. He got back into what informed his musical sensibilities early on similar to his early releases like “Rug”. “I feel like I go in a lot of weird places and I go into weird experimental guitar tones,” Kraemer shared, “very like Muse and the Strokes and that kind of stuff… I think it’s just more back to the experimental stuff of ‘Rug’ and ‘Broken Toe’ with this project, and I think I’m going to keep moving in that direction.” Kraemer plans to hit the road this summer in support of the new material.

Kevian Kraemer speaks with B-Sides host Pete Mar about his current appreciation for Zara Larsson, talks about his musical journey that led him from making garage-rock inspired music in New Jersey and touring. He talks about going back to his garage-rock roots on his new EP, ‘only if it matters’, how performing live influenced the music and more.
