Emerging alt-pop band LVVRS made their debut at Austin City Limits during the first weekend of the annual festival to much excitement and anticipation. The quartet made their return to Austin after having performed at SXSW earlier in the year.
Formed in South Louisiana on Valentine’s Day 2018, the music of LVVRS has been featured on many notable shows including Love Is Blind, Temptation Island and The Iron Claw (starring Zac Efron). The band is made up of frontman River Gibson (vocals/guitar), Gareth Calk (synth), Zac Lyons (bass), Mike Hilbun (lead guitar) and Brenon Wilson (drums) and has carved out a burgeoning career with their sounds informed by ’70s/80s rock swagger, drawing comparisons to Maroon 5, The 1975, and INXS. Gibson shared, “we’re just some regular guys pursuing our dreams. I’m a big believer in ‘if you can dream it, you can do it.’ So that’s what we’re doing and loving every minute of the journey.” The band have been recognized for their art, having won Song of the Year at the Ozone Songwriters Festival for “The Love You Gave Me”, Best Music Video, Josie Music Awards at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville for “Fever Night” and been nominated for many others. The band have a handful of shows after ACL and will release their new EP, ‘Heaven and The Heartland’ in November.
River Gibson of LVVRS spoke with B-Sides host Pete Mar at Austin City Limits 2025 about performing at the festival, the band’s upcoming new project ‘Heaven and the Heartland’ and more.
